Backstage at Truro Trend

From a young age I can honestly tell you I couldn’t of cared less about what was or wasn’t fashionable, on trend or last season, To be honest with you throughout my childhood my favourite item of clothing was a pair of jean esque trousers with  lime green racing stipes and  white and pink waist band, terrible to look back on but I loved those ‘jeans’, don’t worry I now sport skinny jeans, something that maybe in ten years time, I'll look back on and think what was I doing but hey who knows what fashion has in store, maybe my green racing stripe jeans will be one of those items that somehow makes its way back into fashion.

I have ventured into the fashion category before and don’t mind it, To be honest fashion, is so vast that you can practically do anything , A celebrity wears something or a blogger blogs about something and suddenly its fashionable/ on trend, I would go as far as to say that to create a fashion shoot you just have to put a piece of clothing on someone who is vaguely attractive or unique looking and bang you've got yourself a fashion shoot.

As the curious person I am I decided that I wanted to observe a different aspect of the Industry, one that perhaps isn't as well observed or documented, and lucky enough on the 8th October Truro Cathedral was hosting ‘Truro Trend’ a annual event in which various high street shops, such as Viyella, Marks and Spencer, Plum, United Colours Of Benetton, The Vor Store and many more join forces with friends and ordinary women to show off their seasons must haves.

Being brought up with reality programs such as America’s Next Top Model and Project Catwalk, as well reliable literature like The Daily Mail and OK,  I guess you could say I was expecting garments being flung around as outfits were changed, feet being cramped into shoes a couple of sizes too small and dresses being yanked up,  but come on this is Cornwall and were just a little bit more relaxed for that, I mean there was a couple of girls that thought that as they were walking down the catwalk they suddenly had the right to behave like Kate Moss, don't worry I'm not talking snorting Cocaine behind the Cathedral spire, but just thinking they were rather elite and demanding their make up was redone to something that suits them.

Unfortunately down to the strange and inconstant lighting with the church the pictures are incredibly grainy as I didn’t want to shoot with flash and therefore had a ISO of 1600.
