Today we had the pleasure of guest lecturer Jane Hilton (best known for Dead Eagle Trail and Precious /www.janehilton.com ) inducting us on Medium format film cameras, as well as explaining through demostration how to take beautiful ambient lit location based portraits. Hilton is a very motivational speaker and it was wonderful getting to know a little about how she puts her collections together including how she finds that its very easy for a photographer to become attached to a subject or image even if it lets down the rest of the collection. Hilton also talked about how when your starting out your project there is no need to know exactly what you're trying to say as this will come together as you gather research both visually and verbally.
